Two special guests visit Rush National School

We were delighted to welcome two very special guests to Rush National School on Monday 4th November 2024. Tánaiste Micheál Martin, and current Shelbourne FC coach David McAllister, dropped in for a quick visit.

Tánaiste Martin, along with Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee who has been a key advocate in trying to establish a new school for us, called in to have a chat with the children.  Tánaiste Martin talked about the busy life of a politician and he thanked all the staff for all their hard work and dedication in nurturing and developing the children’s lives in the school.

At the same time, past pupil David McAllister brought along the SSE Airtricity League trophy after his team, Shelbourne FC, were crowned League of Ireland champions last Friday night in the most dramatic of circumstances. David talked about his passion for the sport and how his time in Rush National School shaped his future. He remembered with fondness playing on the school soccer team and competing in the lunchtime leagues under Eugene Ahern’s guidance.

We would like to thank both Tánaiste Micheál Martin and David McAllister for calling into the school and speaking so kindly to the children throughout.
